Focus:

Scriptures:

Jeremiah 15:10

John 7:7

Matthew 7:1

Jeremiah 15:1-8

John 7:24

John 10:10

Points:

  1. The Word is an instrument of judgment.

  2. Jesus' enemies wanted to nail Him to the cross because He used His sword, the Word.

  3. God will get tired of His people abusing His mercy.

  4. If you are committed to the sword (the Word), you are committed indeed.

  5. A hater will not preach fire and brimstone

  6. The mystery of Babylon is at work.

Summary:

Leaders who are called of God will be accused of destroying people.  Some forget that the Word is an instrument of judgment that is to be wielded through righteous judgment.  Righteous judgment is not based on our judgment.  Our judgment is as filthy rags.  Righteous judgment is based on the Word.  Those who fall in love with humanity don't want any part of judgment.  They say judgment is not necessary.  They accuse leaders of only criticizing and judging.  Leaders are suppose to criticize and judge with love.  This is called pruning.  Those who wanted Jesus nailed to the cross did so because He used His sword.  He testified against the world that the works thereof were evil. Jesus was not encouraging love without hating sin.

The mystery of Babylon is at work in the world today.  Our human nature intends to kiss Babylon.  Daily, we must resist living by the dictates of our human nature.  One part of this process is the daily renewal or renovating of our minds with the Word of God. We can't eliminate the scriptures that offend the human nature.  When we accept the Word and preach it, we must not mix hostility with the truth.  Criticizing and judging are not hostility, but rather a part of God's plan to prune us so that we mature in holiness.
