Attend to God's Wisdom

Focus:

Scriptures:

Proverbs 18:1-15

Points:

  1. Those who only think of themselves are foolish.

  2. We must obey God on His terms, not ours.

  3. God gives us the strength and wisdom we need to resist temptations.

  4. Sound judgment may conflict with our desires.

Summary:

Someone who walks in pride is offended when God doesn't agree with their opinion.  Such foolish people give attendance to themselves and their own opinion, not God's will.  God said obedience is better than sacrifice.  Obedience to God requires all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength.  Some want to obey God on their terms.  God does not grade on the curve.  He has a standard that He won't compromise.  God's judgment may not always come quick, but sin will find us out.  Remember, self will not give us strength to stand in the day of temptation.  Self will encourage us to follow after our temptations.  God gives us the strength and wisdom to resist temptation if we study to show ourselves approved unto Him, rightly dividing the Word of truth.  If we fall, we understand that if we repent, God will cast our sins into the sea of forgetfulness.  Let Jesus be Lord of your actions, your understanding.
