Being Transformed by God's Word
Focus:
Scriptures:
|
John 3:14, 16 Jeremiah 3:10-15 |
Hebrews 12:1-10 | James 1:12, 18 |
Points:
The world has books of wisdom, but it is God's Word that transforms us.
Becoming saved is the beginning of our transformation process.
God gives us gifts to edify one another so that we will continue to grow spiritually.
Christians should have an eagerness to hear God's Word.
True freedom comes from believing and obeying God.
Summary:
The Word of God transforms us. The world's books of wisdom can not change us like God's Word can. If we put all of our trust in God, we will have eternal life. Believing in Him and asking Him to be our Lord and Savior is the beginning of our transformation. Our soul prospers through the Word of God. Having an eagerness to hear God's Word is a trait of a transforming Christian. When we accept Jesus, we don't have to be slaves to sin anymore, because true freedom comes from believing and obeying God. Accepting Jesus makes us righteous through the blood that He shed and God's precepts become our way of life. If we are Christians and we practice disobeying God, we are walking in iniquity. If unchanged, this type of behavior will cause our spiritual growth to be stunted and we will revert back to our old selves. We must accept the correction that comes from God so that we can be stable.
