  5. An encouraging word is a blessing.

  6. Don't get jealous when God blesses the unrighteous.

Summary:

The blessings of God are not limited to prosperity and happiness.  Abraham was blessed of God.  At the same time, he had to leave family and friends to go to a land that God had promised.  He experienced adversity that was of God on His journey of being blessed.  God allows adversity so that we won't put our trust in prosperity.  If we believe in the Word,  God will bless us.  Now, God does rain on the just as well as the unjust.  We are not to be jealous of the unrighteous who receive a blessing.  If we sow spiritual things, we will reap natural things.  God knows what we need.  Still, having the Bible, the Word of God, is the greatest  blessing.  What do you give to someone who has everything materially?  The Word is the greatest gift.  The Bible is a book of blessings and judgment.  Those who forget God, disregard the Bible with its commandments, judgments, and statutes.  This is evident if the Word of God is boring to us and weeks go by before we even think about picking up the Bible.  Many replace the Bible with other books.  If we don't stay sensitive to God, prosperity can have an adverse affect on us.  We will think that we got whatever we have on our own.  When we forget God, pride is present in our hearts.  Pride chokes our appetite for the Word.  Correction is a blessing from God that gives us an expected end.  Stay close to God through obedience to His Word and continue to bless God and others.
