Evil Opinions
Focus:
Scriptures:
|
Genesis 2:15-17 |
Genesis 3:1-7 | Romans 1:23 |
Points:
Darkness never justifies the Word.
Defend the Word, not our opinion.
Don't add opinions to the Word.
A pastor must be up on the law of God.
Don't follow popular opinion; but rather, follow God's Word.
Summary:
Judgment apart from God is opinion, heresy. When Adam and Eve followed God's Word, they were innocent. As soon as they began to think independently from God, they made a way for disobedience (for sin). As long as they were obedient to God, they had a right to the tree of life. The scriptures encourage us to have the mind of Christ. In order for Christ's mind to be in us, we must renew our minds day by day with the Word of God. The serpent in the Garden of Eden said the opposite of the Word of God. Till this day, Satan is saying the opposite of the Word of God. Because he and his ministers are so cunning, we must know the God's Word We must not trust our own opinion, but God's Word. The scriptures tell us to prove all things. Opinions that can't be backed up by the Holy Scriptures must be forsaken. God's Word also warns us to not follow a multitude to do evil. Following popular opinions that don't line up with God's Word is an offense to God. Pagan holidays, such as Easter and Christmas, are supported by man's opinion and not God's Word. Yet, many Christians still go along with them. We must preach Jesus year-round and not seek to be commended by men. Any opinion that's evil, God said to pull it down.
