Glorifying God in Trials

Focus:

Scriptures:

Job 1

Points:

  1. We must not be scared of adversity.

  2. God wants an intimate relationship with us.

  3. God allows Satan to bring adversity with limitations.

  4. Don't let your relationship with God be based on emotions.

Summary:

We can't get scared when God sets us up to receive adversity.  God asked Satan had he considered His servant Job.  Satan falsely accused Job of worshipping God only because of the blessings he had received from God.  Satan concluded that Job would curse God to God's face if God touched all that Job had.  God allowed Satan to bring adversity after adversity on Job.  God knew that Job was a man of integrity.  We must keep our integrity in times of adversity.  If we are not intimate with God, we won't be able to stand.  We can't let our relationship with God be based solely on emotions.  Job was not a "fair weather lover".  He loved God and worshipped Him in good times and bad.  Job did express his emotions and he did get weak at some point in trying to justify himself, but not once did he curse God.
