Glorifying God in Trials (Part 2)
Focus:
Scriptures:
| Job 1 | Jeremiah 9:24 | Matthew23:23 |
Points:
When speaking on behalf of God, we must speak about Him correctly.
Sin is not always the cause of adversity.
If we glory, we should glory in the fact that we know God and understand His Word.
God wants us to search the scriptures and learn of Him.
Don't neglect education, but don't let the wisdom of God be second to secular wisdom.
Summary:
The thing that Job feared the most happened to him. He lost his children, health, and possessions. His wife told him to curse God and die. Three of his friends who came to comfort him told him he must have sinned for all that adversity to come upon him. This was the perfect opportunity for Job to curse God. He could have listened to the ungodly counsel of his wife or the error of his friends. Job felt the pains of his trials and tried to justify himself rather than God. No matter what we go through, we must not try to save our selves, but trust in God who always makes a way. Our earthly knowledge does not compare to God's wisdom. We must prioritize our lives putting God first. We spend years studying topics and books that can only profit us a little on this earth. The Word of God is everlasting and will profit us in this life and the life to come if we study to show ourselves approved unto God by rightly dividing the scriptures. We must know the truth and stand on it in and out of trials.
