Mystery of Babylon Worship

Focus:

Scriptures:

1 Corinthians 12:2

Ephesians 2:11-12

1 Corinthians 6:11

Ephesians 4:17

Galatians 4:8

Points:

  1. Christians are not suppose to create images to worship.

  2. Don't let others make you an idol.

  3. Don't cross the line between honoring our leaders and idolizing our leaders.

  4. We were all once subject to our human nature.

  5. Demons will flirt with our human nature to entice us to sin.

  6. We must not walk like people who are not saved, in the vanity of our minds.

Summary:

God created us in His image.  We are not to create images to worship.  We all were at some point subject to the impulses of the human nature.  Men of old followed dumb (voiceless) idols made of wood and other earthly materials.  Men of today are following dumb idols and idols that speak.  An idol is anything that we exalt above God.  Real men and women of God don't let others make them idols.  There is a thin line between honoring our leaders and idolizing them.  We also have to be careful about making our family an idol.  The scriptures tell us to walk not as other Gentiles walk in the vanity of their minds.  We should not make ourselves idols either.  When we make ourselves, others, and things idols, we are being led by demons.  Demons flirt with our human nature.  James 1:14 says, "But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed."  The scriptures also warn us against walking like people who are not saved.  They proudly talk about their idols.  Know that there is a spiritual war going on.  We must be aware of Satan's devices and put on the whole armor of God that we may be able to stand.
