Passion for Prayer and Ministry

Focus:

Scriptures:

Luke 18:1-14 Acts 6:4

Points:

  1. We tend to be passionate about the things we love.

  2. If we walk in our human nature, we won't have a passion for prayer and ministering God's Word.

  3. We must be consistent in prayer.

  4. Our prayers are a way of communicating with God, not controlling Him.

  5. It is better to do God's work with passion and not just out of duty.

  6. Prayer and ministering of the Word is like inhaling and exhaling.  Both are needed to sustain spiritual life.

Summary:

We must be passionate about what we do for God.  Are we praying and ministering God's Word out of passion or just out of duty?  When we do things out of duty only, we walk in legalism and become men pleasers.  Any thing we try to do for God without passion, will be boring to us.  Jesus was on the cross because of His passion for us.  Doing your duty is good, but doing your duty with passion is better.  God wants us to pray continually with a humble spirit.  Our prayers don't control God, but they are a way of communicating and fellowshipping with our Father.  When we don't have a prayer life, we are depending on ourselves and not on God.  Prayer and ministry of the Word of God go hand in hand.  We shouldn't do one and leave the other undone.  They are like inhaling and exhaling.
