The Last Persecution
Focus:
Scriptures:
| Acts 9:1-6 | Matthew 15:1-9 |
Points:
Discipleship is different from membership.
Commandments of God offend human nature and commandments of men.
We must be patient during persecution.
Speaking truth will cause persecution in the family.
Some do what they want in the "name of Jesus".
God will ask us to do things we don't want to do, like forgive.
Summary:
Jesus has called us to be true disciples, not just church members. A true disciple will be willing to tell the truth and face the consequences of doing so. Persecution will follow those who are godly. Jesus faced opposition not only from the Pharisees, but also from members of His family. His brothers didn't even believe in Him. Jesus had a cross to bear. As His disciples, we have a cross to bear also. This cross includes persecution. Naturally, persecution is not something we want to go through. However, if we walk in the Spirit of God, we can stand and rejoice in times of persecution.
