The Spirit of Contradiction

Focus:

Scriptures:

Acts 13:45

Hebrews 12:3

Ephesians 6:18-19 Hebrews 7:7

Points:

  1. A person operating according to their will instead of God's is walking in a spirit of contradiction.

  2. The devil wants to use contradictors in the church.

  3. Popular doctrine tickles the ear.

  4. We must know more than Jesus name, we must know His doctrine.

  5. Christians should have a life deposit in them.

Summary:

There is a spirit of contradiction working in the church today.  Those who follow their own will and not God's contradict God.  This spirit showed up in the garden of Eden.  Satan contradicted God and caused Eve to fall.  Adam then in turn opposed God by following his wife rather than the commandment of God.  When Christians follow their own opinions and traditions apart from God, they are in opposition to God.  To know Jesus, we must know more than His name.  We must know His doctrine and follow it.  There are many doctrines that contradict God.  Such doctrines are popular among men.  Doctrines such as the prosperity gospel tickle the ear of carnal Christians.  Once we get saved, God desires that we continue to grow.  We start out on the milk of the Word (elementary teachings), then we grow to understand the mysteries of God (the meat of the Word).  If we study to show ourselves approved unto God, rightly dividing the Word of truth, we will not walk in opposition to God.
